Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation is a new and simple tool in our palette of beauty-enhancing modalities, and it comes with some beneficial side-effects. It’s also cheaper and less invasive than plastic surgery. As we age, our skin and particularly facial muscles begin to sag, form wrinkles, and show signs of wear and tear. While there are many products on the market that help to tighten the skin and enhance the superficial layers of our body, acupuncture works from two directions to help maintain youthful skin and luster.

imageThe first is through simple mechanical retraining of the skin and muscles of the face to maintain a tighter and more uplifted position. With facial acupuncture, we intentionally pull up on the facial tissue before inserting the needles. During an hour session or more, the facial muscles are temporarily held up by the needles, and over the recommended number of sessions, the muscles are slowly retrained back into their original positions. Another means of revitalizing facial appearance is by breaking up scar tissue and wrinkles by needling directly into them and bringing circulation back into those areas. While we cannot completely erase some scars, their presence can be softened through this technique.

The other way in which facial acupuncture can enliven our appearance is through the backdoor, by supporting our overall health and emotional state. The insertion of these needles, from a Western medical standpoint, is known to do several things. It helps to bolster the bodies immune system by triggering a release of white-blood cells which fight pathogens. It also has been shown to stimulate endorphin production, which both alleviates pain and helps the bodies healing process. Acupuncture also tends to induce a deep, therapeutic sleep state where repair of damaged tissue takes place. Circulation is improved in areas where needles are inserted and this has a huge effect in the luster of our complexion. On a mental/emotional level, clinical trials have shown that acupuncture is as effective as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in helping people cope with depression and mental illness, which equally plays a role in our outward appearance to the world. It should also be noted that many comment on how much deeper of a restful treatment it is than a normal acupuncture session.

The recommended number of sessions is 12, with at least one per week, though you can already begin to notice a difference at 6. I offer my Facial Rejuvenation treatments at $200 per session, or in packages of 6 treatments at $1080 (a $120 savings), or package of 12 at $1800 ($600 savings). Each treatment session includes a full intake of your overall health, a facial massage prior to facial acupuncture, and a healing oil that cleanses the pores and enlivens the skin.
